The music of "UTAYOMIBITO" is based on the traditional (which can be traced to the early 19th-century) Portuguese music "Fado" that has nostalgia and melancholy called "Saudade". Its birthplace "Portugal" is the western edge of Eurasia, poetically expressed as "Here...Where land ends and the ocean begins...(Aqui ...Onde a terra acaba e o mar começa)" by poet Luís Vaz de Camões. Now, we write Japanese lyrics that are improvised from traditional "tanka" poetry which is the one of representative literature in the far eastern country "Japan". To mix the music of the westernmost and the easternmost of Eurasian Continent, we play the Portuguese guitar (Guitarra portuguesa) and the Okinawan-Japanese new music instrument yonshin(4Shin). |
